The scanner is part of the automated needle-search line. Check the route of every hay product, not only the main belt, when a needle reaches the selling stand.

Checks and decisions

What to check
Follow each belt and any belt within reach of a robotic arm. Look for a branch that joins the selling route after the scanner. Observe the scanner’s current in-game settings and indicators.
Community advice
Players suggest splitting a backed-up line across separate scanners, then joining it afterward. Try a small test before expanding; this does not establish a scanning rate or guaranteed speed increase.
